Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (OTC BB:SPHC.OB) announced today it has received
a notice that a European Patent has been granted to Samaritan's
SP-1000 (Cholesterol Recognition Sequence) drug for the treatment
of cardiovascular disease.
The European patent
is an examined document, and is enforceable as a patent after
registration requirements have been fulfilled in designated
countries. Samaritan is taking the appropriate steps to register
the patent in the following European countries: Austria, Belgium,
Switzerland/Liechtenstein, Spain, France, Great Britain, Italy,
the Netherlands, and Sweden.
Previously
on May 22, 2006, Samaritan announced that its collaborating
scientists in two preclinical animal studies found that SP-1000
reduces blood cholesterol, clears plaque from clogged arteries,
and raises HDL -- the good cholesterol. For more info about

The patent
has been awarded to Georgetown
University and is exclusively licensed to Samaritan. The
patent duration is 20 years from the filing date (i.e., March
12, 2019).
